| Training |
|

Vocational Training

Skill Development
|
|
a. Vocational Training
- Think and Do seeks to empower youth to earn their living by offering courses in marketable skills such as ceramic tiling, mobile phone maintenance, maintenance of refrigerators and washing machines, men’s and women’s hairdressing, cooking, tailoring, plumbing and electrical work. Basic courses normally last 10 days, with accommodation and full board in the Oasis training centre. Advanced courses are also offered in some skills.
- Courses in some skills, such as sewing, hairdressing and mobile phone maintenance, are provided in different locations around the country through mobile training units.
|
|
|
b. Skill Development
Think and Do’s training courses also include discussions on practical and social topics, and exercises designed to help the trainees to think practically and creatively.

a. Basic Services
- Village development workers: Reaching the needy people where they are through a team of workers who help them spiritually, socially and psychologically
- Housing: Installing latrines and connections to clean water supplies in village homes, and renovating houses in deprived areas
- Supporting female headed households: Empowering women to provide basic necessities for their families, for example by granting them ducks or sheep to raise as a source of income.
- Medical outreaches and clinics: Sending teams of doctors to treat sick people in deprived areas and providing free medicine, and running a clinic charging nominal fees
- Loans for micro enterprise: Think and Do gives small loans ranging from USD 100 to 900 enabling people to start their own business. In some cases, loans are given in the form of tools and equipment
b. Education
- The preschool ministry's mission is to achieve the comprehensive development of the targeted children by establishing or developing nursery schools in villages and urban areas, through providing training to the teachers and raising awareness of childrearing principles, using their resources such as their experience, trainers, equipment, relationships and partnership with local and international organizations.
- Promoting change: Raising awareness of health and social issues through running seminars. Nominated change agents also hold literacy classes. The change agents present a curriculum certified by the Ministry of Education
c. Mercy Ministries
In addition to the above, Think and Do carries out some welfare work in villages among groups that are particularly needy. Activities include:
- Enabling brides from needy families to marry by providing for their practical needs, such as clothes, and basic equipment for their home.
-
Assisting chronically sick patients and their families, such as kidney failure patients and children with cancer, through a programme of visits, gifts and special events.

Spiritual Ministry
|
|

Village Workers

Children's Ministry
|
|
Spiritual input is an integral part of Think and Do’s training, development and welfare programmes. The gospel is shared, and believers are challenged and encouraged in their faith, for example through discussion sessions during training courses, and in home visits to beneficiaries of development activities. In addition, a programme of activities is carried out where the main aims are spiritual: presenting the good news of the gospel, and discipling believers.
Village Workers Ministry
Activities of Think and Do’s team of “village workers” include the following:
-
Serving in some of the many churches in villages and deprived areas that have no pastor. Village workers serve in churches of their own denomination, under the supervision of the senior pastor in the area.
-
Starting cell groups and other meetings in homes, especially in areas that have no churches.
-
Sending small teams of workers to remote areas to share the gospel, and to strengthen churches and encourage isolated believers, using Think and Do’s vehicles plus rented microbuses if needed.
-
Running spiritual days and special outreach events in local churches.
Children’s Ministry
Think and Do networks with churches and other ministries to arrange spiritual conferences, one-day events and regular teaching programmes for children and teenagers. It also seeks to promote healthy physical and spiritual development of the children, for example by arranging sports events and by teaching them healthy habits. Training for Sunday School teachers and youth leaders is included in the programme.

Dreams for future projects
|
|
|
- Establishing a vocational training institute at the Oasis, with well-equipped workshops.
- Buffalo farming at the Oasis, in order to fertilize the soil and to earn income for the ministry.
- Establishing a home for the elderly at the Oasis, combined with a training school for careers.
- Completing the infrastructure at the Oasis, in order to use it for additional ministry activities and for income generating projects to support them. See pictures below.
